WordPress Themes Set For Release: Solitary Genius and Quantum
I’m really excited to announce that on April 19th I will be unveiling the beta releases of my first ever WordPress themes. Wohoo! Both themes are designed in HTML5 and CSS3, supporting a variety of browsers. I have always been a huge fan of the two-column structure so I decided to design both in that style with future flexibility.
Solitary Genius incorporates Chris Coyer’s featured content slider as well as the Wickett Twitter widget. Built loosely around quasimo’s Love Today theme, Solitary Genius is a dark, minimalistic theme.
Utilizing the 52 Framework and modernizr javascript framework for backwards compatibility with older browsers, Quantum takes full advantage of the new semantic structure found in HTML5 without sacrificing usability. With full support of the most current HTML5 tags including: header, nav, section, article, footer, aside, and more to come soon.
Being next generation themes in terms of semantics and structure I expect to have the WordPress development community taking out their magnifying lenses and helping out with some bug fixes. They should come ready to go out-of-the-box, but hey you never know.
Take a Hike for Haiti: RiverWalk of Hope Coming Soon!
Earlier this month, a group of friends came together to start a charity fundraiser that involves a two-day hike of the Westchester RiverWalk (I can’t take all of the credit). Spanning roughly 46.6 miles from Yonkers to the Bear Mountain Bridge, we will make the trek over a two-day period starting May 29th at 6:00am down at Hudson Park in Yonkers. By nightfall we will have reached Croton Point to setup camp, and wake up way too early Sunday morning to finish our journey up at the Bear Mountain Bridge. We just set up our Facebook fan page this month and recently announced our support of Unicef’s Haitian Orphans appeal. 100% of all donations we receive will go directly to supporting this worthwhile cause.
E-Commerce Store Will Open It’s Doors By Summer 2010
I have to admit I was a little too ambitious with my original grand opening date for the store on our site set for February. Having gone back to the drawing board to strategically design a shopping experience that is truly unique and memorable we now have our sights set for the summer. We realize that our visitor’s input is so highly valued in our decision -making process and thank you for telling us what you would like to see showcased on our site.
